Let's make this weekend's (Sept. 8th) usual doubleheader a tripleheader with a Sporter Masterish twist. The overall event will be called the Three Speed Steel Match.
The 25/25 and RFRF will still be their own individual events but for any that are interested, I am going to add one more event.
The third event will be another rifle event. Each shooter will have 10 rounds and one minute to engage just the six little chickens from 25 yards with his or her score being the number of birds left standing and the low score will win. This third event will also be fired offhand. Please take note that it will be fine for a shooter to use the same rifle in both the rifle events.
We will use Sporter Master scoring based on the competitors' finish in each event. Unlike the Sporter Master, the shooter can use a different firearm for each event and there will be both scoped and open sighted classes. And, the shooter can compete in both.
For example, I might:
Shoot the Ruger Single Six with its 2X scope in the 25/25.
Shoot the Winchester 190 with its 4-12 glass in the RFRF.
Shoot the CZ American with its 6-20 scope in the little chicken match.
and then for my open sighted arsenal, I might use the:
S&W 41
Nylon 66
CZ 452 FS
Relative to the Three Speed Steel Match, we simply skip shooters in the two regular individual events that choose not to compete in the third event. For example, their may me 12 scores posted in the open sight class of 25/25 but only Peary, Willie, David, Dwight, Dave, and me choose to shoot for the overall title. The Sporter Master type scoring will apply to the six of us as if we were shooting on our own. However, our score will still count the same as usual in the individual event.
