Are you tough enough to shoot a .22 rifle all day long with precision?
Dawn til dusk!!!
All five NASA, Inc. rimfire rifle disciplines!!!
IN ONE DAY!!!
150 plus rounds!!!
A single rifle, scope, and ammunition type must take you through the entire day - Ole Betsy or sumpin new?
Who will be the 22 Sporter Master?
If you're in, mark down Saturday, October 30,2010, on your calendar.
Rifle: The 50/25 rifle rules will stand for the day.
Trigger = safe
Overall weight less than or equal to 8 lbs 8 ozs
Scope = unlimited
No thumbhole stocks
.22 LR only
Schedule:
Registration opens at 7:00 AM. Shooting will start at 8:00 AM.
First - USBR Sporter Class - Rimfire Range Benches - 50 yards - Will the Green Monster be the Sporter Master maker or Sporter Master breaker?
Second - 50/25 Sporter - Lead against steel.
Third - Roll the racks up range to 25 yards for a dose of the Rapidfire Rimfire Match. Regular action type handicapping will apply - Will our Sporter Master opt for the bolt gun with 36 seconds chopped off his time or shoot a speedy semi-automatic?
Hour and a half lunch break.
Want an after lunch nap? Sorry, how about half a CMP Sporter Match to wake you up. That's right - half - just the 10 minute slow fire stages - 10 minutes for unlimited sighters - 10 minutes for 10 shots prone from 50 yards - 10 minutes for 10 shots sitting or kneeling from 50 yards - 10 minutes for 10 shots standing from 25 yards. By the way dudes and dudettes, this will be your chance to shoot a CMP Sporter 3P match with a heavier rifle, higher scope magnification, and lighter trigger - cool!
Finally, we'll stroll over to the 100 yard range and see if the Sporter Master can lob some 40 grain lead projectiles into the center of 15 little chickens at 85 yards. Yes, its the Raptor Match. Of course, our weary competitor can add a bi-pod or throw down bag to the mix at this point. The sun may be in your eyes by now - should be interesting. Hey Mr. or Mrs. 22 Sporter Master, you will only be allowed five minutes for sighters and you and only you will have to reset any silhouettes you knock down.
Scoring: You have to start to finish. So, let's say we have 10 shooters there bright and early to shoot BR. With 10 wannabe 22 Sporter Masters, there would be 55 points on the table for the competitors to claim in each of the five disciplines and the benchrest scenario might look something like this:
Moe shoots 217-3X and claims 10 points for 1st place.
Curly shoots 215-1X and claims 9 points for 2nd place.
Larry shoots 210- 2X and claims 8 points for 3rd place.
Shemp shoots 205-1X and claims 7 points for 4th place.
Lancelot shoots 205-0X and claims 6 points for 5th place.
Arthur ties for 6th with Guinevere with each shooting a 200-1X - they split 9 points for 4.5 each.
Ren has a 190-1X and gets 3 points.
Stimpy has some scope issues and fires a 155-2X and can only claim 2 points.
Sponge Bob (almost dehydrated by now) can only claim 1 point with his 99-0X.
If there were 15 competitors, they would be dividing 120 points. Got it? A steady shooter could win this war without ever winning a battle. Due to this point splitting capability, we will not have to employ the usual tie breaking shoot-offs in the Raptor Match.
The First Annual Sheffield 22 Sporter Master Match winner will be he or she with the most claimed points at the end of the day. If any shooters drop out for whatever reason before the end of the day, their points claimed to that point will stand and the pool of points will be reduced appropriately after the shooter(s) leave(s) the competition.
A five dollar entry fee will be collected to reimburse the club for the purchase of CZ 452 Special to be awarded to the winner of this shooting pentathlon.
In the remote possibility that we have a tie score for first place overall, the tied shooter with the highest combined scores in the USBR and the CMP Sporter matches will be declared 22 Sporter Master.
I realize it will be hunting season and for that reason, we will only shut down the centerfire rifle range at the very end of the day. Tell your spectators to bring some ears cause some thutty-thutty may be banging away during the day.
