Youth Marksmanship Program
Funded by a grant from the Friends of the NRA, Reece Stewart, Tony Gilmore, Anedra Gilmore, James Day, Rory Amos, and others are conducting a multi-session youth marksmanship program. The first class started on Saturday, October 9th. Good luck folks and thank you for your service to our community.
New Range Storage Building
Reece Stewart and James Day handled the acquisition of a fine new range storage building. It was delivered this past week (October 5th) and Tony and Anedra Gilmore moved and then organized all of our match equipment. Our various match shooters will have far better (and safer) access to their equipment and supplies. The older range officers building will be exclusively used by the Defensive Pistol Shooters.
The members' building (red cross painted on the door) will still house the first aid kit, bowling pins, restroom key, and trap machines.
Get by and check it out if you have not seen it yet.
Important Dates
At an officers and directors meeting held on October 5th, our club president, Dwight Pilkilton, announced the schedule and location of our annual meetings. Here are the dates and times:
The Annual Club Operations and Administrative Meeting will be held on November 16, 2010 from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM at the Sheffield Recreation Center.
The First Key Meeting is set for January 4, 2011 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Sheffield Recreation Center.
The Second Key Meeting is scheduled for February 1, 2011 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Sheffield Recreation Center.
New members will be processed into the club on March 12, 2011 at the Sheffield Recreation Center from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Annual Club Operations and Administrative Meeting
The club secretary will read the minutes and the club treasurer will present an annual financial report.
All four officers have a year remaining of their current two year terms as well as three of the five directors. Two directors slots (the three year and one year) are up for election. James Day and Willie Rhodes (respectively) occupy these two slots at the present.
The procedure for renewing dues will be discussed and approved.
Please note that I am going to move that we change to paying $100 for three years instead of $50 each year and thus avoid all of this money collection, key production, and new member processing each year - key meetings would only be held every three years but the annual operations meeting would still be held each November. If you don't like this idea, you need to come to the meeting and vote against it.
Please attend this important meeting and contribute to the management of the club.
NO DUES WILL BE ACCEPTED AT THE OPERATIONS MEETING
Shooting Matches
The first two Cowboy Matches have been held - Second Sunday Afternoons. Match Director, Jody Tippett, urges more club members to participate. So far out of towners are the only ones unlimbering their hog legs and double guns. Click here for more details:

Tony Gilmore and company held the Alabama State USBR Championship on September 18th. Some fine scores were posted.
The First Annual Sheffield 22 Sporter Master Match will be held on October 30, 2010. This pentathlon will require a shooter to compete in all five of our regular rimfire rifle matches in one day. A single rifle, scope, and ammunition must be employed all day long to complete this challenging 150 round plus course of fire. A $5.00 fee will be collected and a CZ 452 Special will be presented to the shooter compiling the highest point total for the day. A detailed post about this event is located in the Rimfire Matches forum of the the club's webboard.
At least through the end of the year, all of the Saturday morning matches will continue to have 7:30 AM set up times. Remember - If you can't either make set up on time or stay to help take down the match (one or the other at least) then you should take a pass on shooting that day.
