THE RANGE
James Day, Joe Underwood, Dave Hollimon, Reece Stewart, and Danny Creasy met with the Muscle Shoals Utility Board on Thursday, October 25th. We discussed the club's history and our interest in the Water Board's 22 acre property on Gnat Pond Road. The meeting was very positive and the Utility Board is going to be in contact with us in the near future to discuss this matter again.
The escrow is still open at Mr. Whitten's law office and any NASA, Inc. member can still purchase a $1,000 lifetime membership or a $500/$100 membership until December 3, 2012. Please refer to the August Newsletter for details on participation in the escrow.
$68,000 is in the escrow account as on November 30, 2012 at 4 PM. This total and date will be updated via edit to this original October newsletter.
COMPETITIONS
The 3rd Annual Sporter Master Match was held on Saturday, October 20th. Randy King bested the field in this rimfire rifle pentathlon (eight shooters). He won a CZ 455 American rifle. Please checkout the match report in the Rimfire Match section of the board. Danny Creasy, Dwight Pilkilton, and now Randy King hold the title of Sporter Master.
We will change to our winter shooting schedule on November 24th. All of the Saturday morning matches will have 9:00 AM set up times. Please come and help set up and try your best to stay to the end of the match to help take down. The early risers that want to go over and set up at 7:00 are more than welcome to do so. But, don't criticize others for coming at 9:00. I like to go over early sometimes and if I do, I plan to practice until 9:00 AM.
Please refer to the club calendar at the top of the board for a detailed listing of all of our matches.
We will have an encore of the experimental Speed 90 Match on the Friday after Thanksgiving Day (11-23-12). Set up will start at 8:00 AM. Its basically the Rapidfire Rimfire Match except the shooting distance is 90 yards and instead of shooting offhand, one gets to use a bi-pod or separate front rest and shoot from his/her choice of prone or setting.
Ulus Farris has stated that the November, December, and January rimfire benchrest matches will be the Cheap Ammo variant of that sport. Here is the cheap ammo list:

ANNUAL MEETINGS
We will not hold the usual annual operations and administrative meeting. All dues and memberships are considered current until the present Sheffield end date of February 23, 2013. The locks will not be changed until that time - if at all.
All kinds of rumors are circulating about the range and its future. It is pointless to list them in this newsletter. Please rest assured that facts will be published here as they are solidified, and a meeting will be called when your club leaders feel it will be beneficial.
Special notice: Our member, Tom Jones, has reserved the range for the A.M. hours of November 16th (a Friday). He is conducting a shooting program for a group of local youngsters. Thanks for the valuable service to the community Tom!
