Mountain Shots Official Newsletter of the North Alabama Shooting Association by Danny Creasy June 14, 2013
The Range
The excavator has completed his task - five ranges are built.
Gravel will soon be spread on our road, the parking lot, and all range surfaces.
A 24' X 140" concrete pad with a 14' X 140' pavilion and eight benchrests will be completed shortly thereafter.
Membership
All 138 members that have renewed their membership in the club are invited to attend an administrative and operational meeting on Sunday, June 30th. The meeting will last from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The location is Edgemont United Methodist Church (1330 Eauclaire Avenue, Florence, AL 35630). We will be voting on the size of the new club and a new member induction process.
The one year director slot is up for election as well.
Thanks to the following for stepping up and making it possible to build the new range:
89 - Life Members
17 - $500/$100 Members
32 - Annual Members
A REMINDER, ABSOLUTELY NO SHOOTING AT THE RANGE UNTIL CONSTRUCTION IS COMPLETED AND A GATE HAS BEEN INSTALLED.

Wow! I can't believe only 32 people rejoined, besides the others. Great news on the range. Looking forward to sending some lead down range in the near future.

Thanks for the update. I got a new Sharps .40 begging to be shot! Appreciate all the hard work our officers and others have done to get us to this point.

A Sharps .40, you say? .40-70 Sharps Straight or Bottleneck? Or the more common these days .40-65? There is a regular BPCR silhouette shoot in Birmingham on the First Saturday. I'll be there with my Browning "Highwall" .40-65, health and weather permitting, on July 6th.

Directions to Edgemont Church ?? Head northeast at the intersection of Hermitage and Helton Drive, go past Morrison Elkins Funeral Home on Hermitage Drive, after passing the crest, head down the big hill and then hang a left at the bottom, the church is a few blocks in on the left.

Must redirect here. The meeting on the 30th is only open to the 138 members that have already paid. Keep in mind, there will more than likely be ample opportunities for past members and new members to join shortly thereafter.
We agreed earlier that the folks that paid to build the new range, by the deadline, are the ones that will determine the new member induction policies and procedures.
The 30th is not going to be a key meeting. There were ample opportunities over two months for past members to re-up, half a dozen dates were mixed between Saturdays, Sundays, and weeknights. I came to all but one of those as did several other officers, directors, and regular volunteer members to help process renewals.
