Dear Friends,
Absolutely beautiful morning to shoot at the NASA Wagnon Mountain Range. Temperatures in the upper 60s to low 70s, blue skies and very light winds resulted in very good scores. Unfortunately, the only participants were me, myself and I. If the day had not been so perfect, I would have gone home. As it was, I shot in two classes and finally used good ammunition to score the wins with the best scores I've shot in many a moon.
First, I took on the Green Monster with my factory stock Sako p94s varmint rifle mounting a Weaver T36 scope. After spending a few minutes and quite a few rounds sighting in with Federal UltraMatch (UM22), I shot a score of 235/1X which, for me, is an exceptional score and represents my best-ever USBR target. I managed (only) three 8s, nine 9s, twelve 10s and one X. The wind was very light and, I believe, really helped my cause!
Second, I took on the NRA 23/5 Target with my vintage stock 1920s Model 12 Martini mounting Parker-Hale aperture sights. Again, it took me a while and several sighter bulls-eyes to get all systems operational with, again, the Federal UltraMatch. On my four consecutive scoring bulls, I shot 50/4, 50/4, 50/2 & 50/5 for a total score of 200/15X. This was not my best score ever - which was 200/17X - but it was darned close and tied my second best score.
So, I declare myself the winner of the USBR Factory Sporter Class with 235/1X and the Wagnon Mountain Iron Sight Class with 200/15X.
Mark & David, will one of you please give me a call at 256 383-8791 or drop me an email a aqbill@aol.com !
Cheers, Bill

Superb scores, Bill! That sporter score could win at a large sanctioned match. Congratulations!
Last weekend and this weekend's matches were not possible for me. Yesterday, Karen finished a nine-day hospital stay. I'll be hovering close as the primary caregiver for a few weeks.

Give Karen my best wishes for a quick recovery. As a fellow asthmatic, I feel for her. Few things are as bad as fighting for your breath.
