Annual Club Meetings
Our annual club operations meeting was held on December 2, 2008. Attendance was poor (40 or so).
The minutes and treasurer’s report were presented and approved. The One Year Director’s office was the only elected position up for a vote. Tobey Robertson was elected to serve in this post for the next year. Congratulations Tobey.
Some members expressed an interest in increasing the membership cap due to our possible need for more strong backs, sharp minds, and sound pocket books in helping build a new range when the time arrives. Danny Creasy made a compromise motion to allow any qualified prospective members on the waiting list by January 6th to join the club whether the 250 member cap is exceeded or not. Discussion resulted in the cutoff date being amended to January 31, 2009. The amended motion passed. As of today, there are 78 folks on the waiting list.
The annual key meeting was held on January 6, 2009. Between the members that came in person and the members that had mailed in dues, about 115 keys were issued. A couple of directors felt that another key meeting should be set. Please read our president’s comments below relevant to these issues.
A Word or Two from Dwight
Help, my key does not work!!!!
Well, every January we change the locks, if your key does not work it means you need to pay your dues for 2009 and receive a new Key. This has been covered and all members have been informed by email and a printed news letter. We had a “Key” meeting on January 6th at the Sheffield Recreation Center. We will have one last “Key” meeting on February 3rd at the Sheffield Recreation Center. The meeting will start at 6:00 P.M. and run until 8:00 P.M. You may show up that night, pay your dues, and get your key…it really is that simple, you may send a family member with your old key and card and they can pick up your new card and key. You may also mail in your dues to N.A.S.A. Inc., P.O. Box 3565, Florence, AL 35630 and your key and card will be mailed to you on February 3rd. However, it must be mailed to the P.O. Box. No in person renewals are possible except at the key meeting on February 3rd.
Prospective New Members, please read this;
If you have sent in an application for membership to our P.O. Box, they are being kept by our club Secretary Carter Ledgewood. These will be accepted until January 31st. They must be in the P.O. Box on the 31st - not postmarked on that date. We will do interviews for our prospective new members at the Sheffield Recreation Center on February 21st (Saturday). You will be contacted by phone for your interview appointment, this will be a very busy day for our Interview Committees and our Safety Committee at the Range. You must pass your interview before you can advance to the safety briefing. Only after you have passed these two steps, can you pay your dues and get your key and card, and become a club member.
Prospective new members, you must bring a current Valid Pistol Permit or the paper work from a recent FFL firearms transaction with you to the interview. This is a mandatory step unless you are an active military member or a sworn law enforcement officer.
