Rules!!!
I would prefer not to start this letter on a negative topic but we simply have to emphasize the most violated rules of the club and the penalties for breaking them.
1. It is strictly prohibited for any NASA, Inc. member to loan his or her key to a non-member with the intention of enabling the non-member to shoot at the range unescorted by said member. Any member discovered violating this rule will be banned from the club and the range for life.
2. It is strictly prohibited to place targets more than two feet from any of our three downrange berms and then proceed to fire at these targets (risking projectiles striking the ground and ricocheting out of the range). Any shooter discovered violating this rule will receive one warning for the first offense and then club dismissal for the second. PLEASE NOTE: THE OFFICERS AND DIRECTORS VOTED TO GRANT AN EXCEPTION TO THIS RULE FOR ANY OF THE CLUB’S OFFICIAL MATCHES. THE MATCH DIRECTORS DESIGN THE MATCHES TO MAKE SURE THAT ALL ROUNDS STRIKE IN A BERM AND EACH SHOOTER IS OBSERVED WHILE SHOOTING IN A HIGHLY CONTROLLED ENVIRONMENT.
3. It is required of each NASA, Inc. member to clearly display her or his club membership ID either on her or his person or range bag while using the range. Any shooter violating this rule will receive one warning for the first offense and then club dismissal for the second.
Membership
We have inducted all of the waiting list members. Our membership now stands at 380 in number. A motion was made and carried on February 22nd to close the membership after the current waiting list prospects were processed and then accept no new applications until further notice. Please inform any prospective members of this new policy and tell them to check back no earlier than March of 2010.
The current facility and staffing are at capacity with this large number of members and we will probably let the membership fall back to a figure such as 300 via attrition before we start accepting waiting list applicants again.
Events
Reece Stewart and his committee are now planning for the annual Friends of the NRA banquet in August. The next newsletter (June) will have more details about this important event. Please budget now to purchase tickets as soon as they become available.
Dwight Pilkilton has worked with the Civilian Marksmanship Program to arrange for our second annual sanctioned CMP Sporter match. Dwight says:
“Hi folks, we will be sponsoring the Deep South Classic CMP Sporter Match on May 30th 2009. Gates will open at 7:00 A.M. for registration; 1st. string will start shooting at 8:00. All rifles will be weighed and have their trigger pulls checked with NRA certified scales and gauges. Any equipment not meeting ODCMP guidelines will not be eligible for score or medals. The entry fee is $10.00. Each competitor will be issued two boxes of .22 LR ammunition and a bottle of water. There will be a lunch break this year rather than serving food on the range. If you have any questions email me at dwight@sgaimaging.com .”
Calendar
Just matches on the calendar for a while. Hey, the dues are collected and the new members are on board. So, let’s concentrate on having fun while shooting (safely) for the rest of the year. I am only stating set up times because the competitors are expected to help set up or take down – not just shoot!

April 11th 25/50 Pistol 7:30 AM – rimfire range
April 18th Rimfire Benchrest 7:30 AM – rimfire range
