We got to the range on a typical deep south end of July Saturday , it was so hot the birds were pulling worms out of the ground with pot holders. Our shooters having just got back from Camp Perry were tuned up for this match, the scores showed it as several personal best scores were shot. We all have a little tension when shooting in a nationally sanctioned match even when it is on our home field, however take one trip to Camp Perry and shoot there and you will lose those jitters and settle down in match shooting. A good example is John Warffeli aka "Waffle" who has come close to shooting medal level scores but not quite there. John came within 2 points of making bronze at the nationals but today he broke through and shot bronze in two different categories....way to go Waffle. On another note Don Moore and Ricky King shot two incredible scores in open sight division, these scores would have placed them at the very top in the Nationals. Way to go Don and Ricky, most would love to shoot these scores with a scoped rifle let alone a open sight gun. We had a guest shooter from Florida , William Shertz "shirts" who was visiting family in Tuscaloosa and drove up to try his hand at this match. We hope to see him again in the future and his flashy convertible red BMW. We also had a new father and son team to shoot with us, Gary and Ben Lodin. Gary medaled in his first ever CMP match and Ben did very well with a loaner bolt gun managing to get off the rapid fire stages..no easy task for a young man who had never shot this game before. Enough chit chat, the scores before I get lynched for posting late results ;-)

Special thumbs up to David Malone who shot a personal best today with his 580-14X. On a sad note this will be Lana's last match for a while, she and her Husband Rex are moving to Kentucky so we might not see them until the fall holidays. We will miss you guys. On a personal note it was so good to have my dear friend Danny shooting on the line with me today, CMP Sporter has not been the same without you Dan.
Sincerely
