We shot the first ever Speed 90 Match this afternoon here in Sheffield. It is a great little match. Exciting and fast. Congrats to our two top shots from today. Dave Holliman won the bolt action class and Dwight Pilkilton won the semi-auto class. B J Kavanaugh's time was just a little over Dave's for second and Steve Stone finished behind Dwight by just three seconds. Good shooting gentlemen.

Description of the Speed 90 Match:
We are going to try an intriguing new rimfire match on Sunday, November 4th. Come join us for the experimental Speed 90 Match. We will start setting up at 11:00 AM (don't forget to set your clock back the night before for daylight savings time) and the first string will start shooting at noon. If you can't make it until 1 or 1:30 come on over anyway and catch one of the later strings (just stay and help pack up at the end of the match).
The same 24 silhouette rack set up will be used as in the Rapidfire Rimfire Match. However, the rack will be set on the 90 yard line of the rifle range and a shooter will have all the ammo he or she chooses to bring to firing line to engage the four rows of the rack in four strings. The object is to knock down all of the silos in a row as fast as she/he can while firing from a sitting or prone position. The four times will be added together for an aggregate time and that will be the shooters score. There will be a 6 second reward for shooting a row clean (no misses). So, fast may not necessarily beat slow in this one.
The 50/25 rifle rules will apply. Unlike the Raptor Match, one will get to start in position. The shooter can use a bi-pod, a front rest, a shooting stick, or simply a sling as he or she prefers. To keep the match moving at a good clip, we will call "time" on a row at one minute. There will be a generous sighting in period at the start of each string of three shooters. AND, there are two classes - bolt guns and semi-autos. No manual repeater handicapping will be necessary. And yes, you can shoot in both classes if you so desire, but you will need two rifles .
