One of our most devoted competitors, Peary, would like us to try a different version of the 50/25 Match. So, anyone interested in trying Peary's Match needs to be at the range by 7:30 AM on Saturday the 3rd. After a quick silhouette set up, we will shoot at least one string of up to four shooters and if others are interested, we will have a second string of four 50/100 shooters using Peary's rules. Here is the drill:
The 50/100 competitor will come to the line with exactly 100 rounds of .22 rimfire ammunition. After the start command is given, he/she will have 15 minutes to engage the standard rack of 25 silhouettes. The shooter will cease fire upon the fall of the last silo on the rack or when his/her 100 rounds are expended or when the stop command is given at the end of the allotted 15 minutes. Ones score will be the number of unfired cartridges remaining out of the original 100 rounds. The high score will win. Review these changes carefully. It is not a speed match (read hoser's match). Precision marksmanship will still determine the victor.
If an early bird 50/100 shooter competes in the first experimental string with let's say, a scoped class rifle, then he/she may shoot a second open or aperture sighted rifle in the second experimental string if all four slots are not already taken by first time experimental shooters - in other words, space available. By the way, if over eight shooters want to play the new game then the eight slots will be awarded in order of arrival time for the match set up work session.
The regular 50/25 Match will start immediately after the 50/100 Match.
PS A 100 count plastic ammo box like the ones from CCI would be most helpful even if you have to transfer your paper boxed or milk carton bulk packed rounds to it. I will have a couple or three empty CCI 100 count trays at the match to serve as loaners. No loose rounds will be allowed on the firing line. Just a single full 100 round plastic tray or two full 50 round plastic trays. Of course, a target shooters loading block that holds at least 100 rounds will be acceptable.
