How about a fun match to start off the 2012 Shooting year. The match will be shot on the 100yd range at N.A.S.A. Jan 1 2012. You may shoot ANY rifle in 22LR with ANY scope. The rifle must be of the shoulder fire type that you could hunt with. The rifle must have a barrel, action and stock. NO rail guns. This is a prone match so you can use a front rest but NO rear rest. Sighters will be shot from 12:01pm to 12:45pm and the match will start at 1pm. The idea is to shoot 32rds at 32 1.5x3in black bears. The match will be shot in two 16min. rds shooting 16 bears per rd. A shot counts only if the hit is completely inside the body of the animal. A .22 cal scoring gauge will be used to score questionable shots. What if we have a tie? The shooters tied for 1st will have 8mins to shoot 16rds at 16 bears. The match is open to all N.A.S.A. club members and guest. Starting Nov. 19 I'll have some of the bear targets with me or you can print them at www.mytargets.com if you want to practice. Thomas A.

Danny
I hope this match brings in some of our silhouette ,CMP and benchrest shooters.
I think a sporter rifle shot by a good trigger puller would have as good a shot to win as one of our benchrest guns.

After bear hunting this afternoon with Willie 40X 36X scope my CZ455 24X scope Joe 10/22 4X scope
I think shooting the bears at the size of 1X2in would work fine unless we have a 5-10mph crosswind.
So after shooting today and talking to Stone sat. at the BR match,
We will be shooting the bears 50% larger.
So if you print them out at home print them at 150%
I want it to be hard to win but still have fun shooting.

Yeah, I realized that after posting. I doubt I could even see one the bears from 100 yards without a scope.

Black Bear match Sunday Jan. 1 2012
Weather for the match is looking good.
54 degrees and sunny with a NW wind around 16mph.
Looks like a good day to learn how to dope the wind.
TA
I would sight in the gun you plan to shoot bear with after the raptor match sat.
The weather for raptor will be around 50 and sunny with a S wind @7mph and should make it easier to sight in.
