Congrats to everybody for showing up and shooting on a beautiful but very windy morning. Shifting and gusty winds of over 20 miles an hour made this a challenging match today. That tenth of an inch ten ring is hard to tag even with a concrete bench under you.
Barry's 236 was a personal best and a range high for the four of these matches we have held so far.

Well at eight on Saturday morning, the weather forecast was for gusting winds of up to 20 miles an hour, temps in the 50s, and a 100% chance of rain. I thought that maybe Polly, our little beagle mix, had the right idea (I love the custom chin rest she created): But, I really felt we could sneek our rimfire bench rest match in ahead of the worst of this stuff. And, I just new our East Alabama buddy, Barry, would already be headin over. So, I loaded up the Ruger and the Anschutz and headed to our Sheffield range. Sure enough, I had a handfull of folks there. Here is the "long view": As stated earlier, we use the USBR rules and targets to hold our own unsanctioned monthly matches. This is about the fifth month we have shot this game. Much fun and quite challenging. Unlike the OnLine Matches of RFC that I had been shooting, you can't cherry pick your conditions. Just play what you draw. We shoot the Unlimited and Factory Sporter Classes. I have to shoot the big Ruger in the Unlimited Class because it weighs 8 lbs and 10 ozs (2 ozs over). Similarly, David King's Ultra Lux makes weight but he has a Brooke's trigger kit in it and the USBR Factory Sporter rules state that the trigger can be modified but the mods must be so subtle that a trained gunsmith should not spot the mods with a casual inspection of the action and trigger group. Here are the scores: Unlimited Barry Holmes, 233-2X, Winchester 52D, Weaver T-36, SK Pistol Match Dwight Pilkilton, 228-0X, Remington 37, 14 power (no details), Lapua Mstr L Danny Creasy, 223-1X, Ruger 77 VBZ, Weaver T-36, SK Std Plus David Hollimon, 215-1X, Remington 540 SR Target, BSA Platinum, SK Std Plus David King, 203-3X, CZ-452 UltraLux, Leupold Rifleman 3-9, Fiocchi SuperMatch Sporter Barry Holmes, 219-1X, Cooper 57M, Leupold VariXIII 4.5-14, SK Pistol Match Danny Creasy, 216-2X, Anschutz 1710, Weaver V-16, Eley Biathlon EPS Willie Rhodes, 215-1X, CZ 452 American, Simmons ProHunter 6-18, Wolf ME David Hollimon, 212-0X, CZ Varmint, Redfield Accu-Trac 6-18, SK Std Plus David King, 193-0X, CZ 452 Special, Leupold 4X, Winchester Supreme
