44 scores were posted today in three classes as 4 shooters took the line in each of 11 strings. What a turnout! What a gorgeous spring day!
Perennial top guns, Dwight and James, stealthily negotiated their 25 critters shooting side by side in the same string to both leave only two little chickens standing for a first place tie in scoped class. Great shooting men. I enjoyed watching this head to head race. A contrast in forms. Dwight, with his self customized Ruger 10/22 semi-auto and James with his self customized CZ 452 Varmint bolt action. James shouldering and shooting for each shot and Dwight taking two or thee shots and then pausing for a few seconds.
In our open sight class, the ole cop, Mike, tied the "B Movie Monster", Randy, with both posting fine scores of 9X5 for first place.
James Day won the peep sight class with an awesome score of 5X5. The "Monster" didn't grab him but he got close with a 6X6 score.
Peary and James, thank you so much for running so many of the strings for me as I got pulled away to the "Gun Show". Karen, thanks for minding our parking lot display tables while I shot and at least, ran a few strings.
Good to see the young men there today. Way to represent - Grayson and Robby!
Randy didn't want to let such a big and enthusiastic bunch get away without throwing together a fun match at the end. Wow and fun it was. Especially when James Day draws your name for his team. 14 shooters participated in this side event. James drew names from a hat and seven two man teams were established. Each "element" (that's what we called two planes in the Air Force) engaged a single 25 count rack of silhouettes with only four minutes and 50 rounds (each shooter could have 25 cartridges on the table at the start). James and I cleaned the rack in three minutes and 46 seconds to take the match. Bart and Peary came in second as they left only four silos standing.
