Sheffield Factory Sporter Benchrest Match - set up at 11:30 AM and the first string will take the line at noon
Here is the rundown:
.22 Long Rifle
T Class - 25 yards - USBR target (telescopically sighted)
O Class - 50 feet - USBR target (open sighted - must use the factory open sights)
A Class - 50 feet - USBR target (aperture sighted sporters and special allowance for use of the Mossberg 44 and Rem. 513 T as long as they make weight)
The rifle must have the original action, barrel, and stock that came from the factory. The stock cannot be externally modified and no tuners or vibration dampening devices are permitted. Also, no slip-on or glue-on attachements can be added to the rifle's stock such as cheek pieces, skate board tape, extended butt plates, etc. However, the competitor can glass and/or pillar bed the action, free float the barrel, and modify or even replace the factory trigger. Also, it is fine if the barrel has been re-crowned or been cut to carbine length. But, it cannot have been set back and re-chambered.
No thumbhole stocks or stocks with flat bottomed forends will be allowed. The "coin test" will be applied to questionable stocks. No "position rifles" (except for the Rem 513T and Mossberg 44 in A Class). Yall know what a sporter is. So, please comply.
The rifle with sights must not exceed 8.5 lbs in overall weight.
The trigger must simply be safe.
Any power of scope may be used in T Class.
No spirit levels may be attached to the rifle, sights, or scope.
No barrel tuning devices such as O rings or rubber grommets may be attached to the rifle.
Rests must be two piece (forend and buttstock support). A bi-pod can be used and the rifle can be weighed in without the bi-pod attached.
The shooters will have a five minute setup time after bringing their sporters to the firing line.
The target will be the official USBR paper 28 bull target. The shooters will have 20 minutes after the start command is given to fire unlimited sighters at the top three bulls and 25 shots for score at the 25 lower bulls. All hits inside the USBR target's green boarder lines will count. No "first shot" exceptions.
No entry fee will be charged. We just ask that you be safe and have fun.
You may shoot two different rifles in T Class and both scores will count. Let's hold the O Class and A Class to one rifle because the family might be waiting.
Why 25 yards?
1. It's something different.
2. Wind and ammunition quality are not near the factors they are in the 50 yard game.
3. The scores will be higher. Thus the targets will be faster to score.
5. Wouldn't it be cool to shoot a 250 with a Sporter. I know some of you BR regulars can do it.
