While the CMP Sporter contortionists ;D are occupying the two short ranges this Saturday (September 22nd), how about anyone interested trying a long range .22 handgun event on the ole rifle range.
Bank Clang Ram
Eligible firearms - open sighted and scope sighted .22 LR chambered handguns.
Distance - targets will be a few feet from the berm.
Targets - five of our regular ram silhouettes occupying the top row of our steel racks.
Course of fire - four shooters will come to the firing line and occupy the four benchrests (we have two stools - please bring more if at all possible). A competitor will have his/her scoped or open sighted handgun and six rounds of ammunition and after assuming a seated firing position at the bench, he/she will have one minute to engage the five rams 95 yards away. As in the Raptor Match, the shooter will have three runs at the rams and his/her score will be the aggregate number of rams left standing. There will be tie breakers fired with only five rounds as needed.
Rests - the shooter can use the bag or rest of his/her choosing to assist in hitting the rams. I simply ask that the firearm not be attached to the rest in anyway.
Two classes - open sight and scope sight.
Let's set up at 7:30 AM and crank it up ASAP.
Each shooter will have five minutes for sighters preceding his/her first string.

Sounds like a fun match. Unfortunately, deer season opens in Tennessee Saturday, so I will be out with a bow trying to shoot Bambi.
Have fun

Sounds interesting. I hope we will have a ram swinger to sight in on. You read my mind Peary. Actually, I was going to put up the ram, the pig, and the turkey spinners. We will need lots of practice targets.

Willie has been practicing some. Not much luck with his open sighted pistol and he traded off his scoped gun a while back. But, he said he was going to come back today with a new plan.

I have been to the range to practice. Shot with Ulus, Thomas Reed, and Willie. Not too terrible with my scoped AMT. Iron sights with my Supermatic Trophy High Standard is tough. I think I was hitting the swinger about one shot in ten.

Bang Clang Match Results
Nice little turnout for the test drive of this new match. It was a beautiful cool and clear morning but it was windy. Heck, that just added to the challenge. And challenging it was.
Congratulations to Ulus on his scoped class victory. He went five for five in his first relay and we about voted to send him home ;D .
Legend: Place, shooter, handgun, scope (if applicable), ammunition, # of rams left standing in string 1, 2, 3, final, tie breaker.
