1. We are adding the USBR Custom Class to our rimfire benchrest matches. Refer to organizational rules for definition of this class. usbr.benchrest.net/rules.htm2. In the interest of fairness, courtesy, and time management, a Sheffield benchrest match competitor may only shoot one rifle in each class or sub-class. If the competior wants to shoot more than one target in the match, then he/she must bring more than one rifle with one exception. That exception is for the 2-Buck-A-Box class. A shooter can shoot any .22 long rifle chambered rifle (whether it has already been fired for score that day or not) in the 2-Buck-A-Box Fun Class as long as the current retail price of his ammo is less than $2.00 for a box of 50 rounds. The 2-Buck-A-Box entrant must designate that his target is for that class before shooting it. The classes are: Unlimited Custom (new) Sporter (CZs can have a Brookes Kit installed) 2-Buck-A-Box (fun local class) Semi-Auto (fun local class) Magnum (fun local class) Example: Ted T. Nimrod could bring five different rifles and shoot them in all five classes for score. On the other hand, let's say Lloyd B. Bad brings two Sporter Class eligible rifles. He can't shoot them both in the Sporter Class. If Ted did want to shoot both of these two sporters, he could shoot one in Sporter and the other in Custom, Unlimited, or feed it some cheap ammo and compete in 2-Buck-A-Box Class.

In reference to the Sheffield USBR matches, Barry and I were discussing the need for a benchmark to use in the 2-Buck-A-Box fun match. The growing popularity of this little side event has brought with it some questions about the eligibility of ammunition. The dramatic price increases of late have added to the confusion. "Danny, I purchased a 325 round carton of Federal Auto Match in January for $10.99 and now it costs $13.49. Can I still shoot it in the fun match?" $10.99 divided by 325 times 50 is $1.69 while $13.49 divided by 325 times 50 is $2.07. Well, our friend Barry suggested we adopt a policy that Carl (a wise contributor to Rimfire Shooting) said his bunch uses. I like it. Here is the new 2-Buck-A-Box rule for the Sheffield range: The latest addition of the annual Midway Master Catalog will be use to set the value of the ammunition for the 2-Buck-A-Box Match. If your selected ammo runs no more than $2.00 per 50 rounds in this guide, then it is eligible for use in this cheap ammo competition. Just consider the base price and do not add tax or shipping. Every year upon the release of the new Master, we will set the new cheap ammo price ceiling. Next year we may have a 2.5 buck-a-box match . Barry will have this tomb at the next rimfire match. If you don't have the latest edition on hand, and you want to play with some ammo in advance then shoot me an E-mail or PM and I will forward your quandry to Barry to check out the price of you proposed ammo.
