Well we did it, our first CMP MATCH and quite well according to the scores posted by other sites. I would like to thank Dwight and Danny for getting this thing off the ground THE TIMES DAILY, Jay, Dave n’ his son, Willie, Rex Holliday, every one too numerous to list you all but thank you so much for helping make the CMP a hit. All but a bobble in my first string I had a great day, lots of good friends good food, good shootin’, I can’t wait to do it all again. Also thanks for all the comments on my militaria collection and to my wife Anedra for helping pull all the food and orgization of everything I had going on last week and keeping score. The 1 time she was off doing score sheets and I messed up big time (totaly my fault)I have the infamous target of match death posted below, I brought too much stuff to the line and just kept on shooting’ 7 times too many. I will not make that mistake twice; it just made my game fall all to crap quick and costed me big time. Well until next time, thanks again and great shooting and support from everyone. “T” By the way did I mention we had 12 of 18 shooters medal and a double gold, without a doubt were 1 of the best clubs on the planet in the CMP 3P Rim fire. Go to the cmp site and look at the other scores we have first timers beating their high scores. GREAT SHOOTING YALL!!!

I had a wonderful time...REALLY enjoyed spending the day with all you guys and actually managed to get a respectable score with my humble model 5 and walmart subsonic ammo (551/600) I shot with some great guys I knew and a few I hadn't met before from far and near. Even got a great free cheeseburger! You can't beat that ! Anyway I saw a LOT a good shooting and safe handling and some deffinate great attitudes...everyone really is rooting for everyone else to do their best. Good folks good shooting good food...I concure with Tony's assessment...I believe we really have become a truly great little shooting club! My goal for the next one it 575-580-ish!! I'll be slightly adjusting my equipment and ammo choices to help that...I gotta get used to a 3# trigger to-LOL (mine must havee been barely over 2#'s as it took about 2-2 1/2 rotations on the spring tention screw to get it CMP legal. I may do a little optics swapping as well at some point...more for the benchrest match though...the 4X40 swift was just about right for the CMP match! Thanks to Danny for loaning me a proper sling and (I'm sorry I forgot your name bud) whoever it was that let me use their midway shooting mat...I'll have my own next time. And maybe a spotting scope (...though any decent 8 or 10X binocculars and a camp or exercise mat will get you by if that's all you have...heck the ammo they give you is very decent stuff...I just went with something I knew would deffinately shoot well in my rifle) It has recently started suddenly liking high end match ammo (bore must be broken in and smoothed out now or something...probably has 5K rounds on it-LOL...So I have to go through that testing and searching again...I'm going to start with Federal GM this time as I can always order it...it suddenly started really likeing wolf though...which I can hardly ever find!)

Jon, just get a fixed 6 power scope or a variable and tape it on 6 power. You will then be able to see your hits and you won't have to worry about a spotting scope. The little Weaver 2.5-7X28 Rimfire Classic is a very clear glass and it is set to be paralax free at rimfire ranges. However, if you want to shoot BR with the same rifle as well, then get a 6-18 or 6-24 with an AO and then your Remington Model Five can handle all of our rimfire rifle matches. My Swift 6-18X44 Premier is pictured below mounted on my CZ American and this combo could handle the 50/50 Sporter Match, the USBR Match (sporter class in this case), the CMP Sporter Match, and the 5th Saturday Raptor Matches. Please note that SK Std Plus is the same ammo as Wolf Match Target and SK Match is the same ammo as Wolf Match Extra. Does Champion Shooters have any of either right now?

By the way, anyone interested in trying the CMP Sporter Match or already shooting it should read the following: www.odcmp.com/Competitions/rimfire.pdfIts all here, scope power ceiling, rifle weight ceiling, trigger pull floor, and even sling width.
