CMP Rimfire Sporter at North Alabama Shooting Association in Crooked Oak
A cool overcast morning found our group at the range getting equipment ready for our monthly match. Considering it was all but July we were lucky to have temperatures hover around 80 degrees and a mild breeze of wind. While the pavilion was still a bit dusty from the torrential rains we have been having and traces of the earth that moved across the shooting area was evident the conditions were good. Many of us had not seen each other for some time and quite a bit of gun talk was in order as we brought our equipment to the line to set up. Today was rare in that I don’t remember any equipment malfunctions of any kind from any of the shooters. We ran the match a little different as this was not a sanctioned match but rather a club fun match. Several of us simply put up 6 centers and were able to shoot the entire match without going down to change targets, these speeded things up. I dashed the hopes of a record score for myself by caressing the trigger a little too hard while the crosshairs were still rising on a partial breath. Scores were good even if we all were a little rusty. I was so pleased to see Ulus back shooting with us; we had a blast this mild summer morning with our gear and friends.

Congrats to Andrew and Dwight for placing first in their classes. Dwight, you are at the top of your game. Are you going to Camp Perry in July?
