Two competitors showed up for the June 50/25 Rimfire Rifle Silhouette Match: Zack and Danny. As I had mentioned in my May 31st post, we shot Peary Willard's 100-round version of the 50/25 Match. Instead of 30 rounds of .22 LR ammo, each competitor comes to the firing line with a hundred. The object is to clean the rack. One's score is the number of unfired rounds remaining after all 25 steel silhouettes are down. A reasonable 15-minute time limit is allowed. Scoped Class 41 unfired rounds - Danny - CZ 452 American - Weaver V-16 - CCI-SV 13 unfired rounds - Zack - Marlin 60 - TruGlo Red Dot - Federal Hollow Point Peep Sight Class43 unfired rounds - Danny - CZ 452 FS - Tech Sight - CCI-SV Zack had about two minutes remaining on his scope run, and I had less than a minute left on my scoped run and around three on my peep-sighted run. Interestingly, I outshot my scoped rifle with my peep-sighted rifle. I think the old wobbling reticle effect had much to do with this. I didn't particularly care for this variation when we tried it in the aughts, but Zack and I both thought the higher round count was conducive to 'self-training.' We had to keep firing away at the most challenging targets (the chickens) long after we would usually be out of ammunition. A couple of years ago, I engaged a rack with these rules while I was at the range on a weekday. Below is a link to my YouTube video of that experience. youtu.be/vaZ4K0foLJg
