OK folks our sanctioned CMP Rimfire Sporter is almost here. If you hurry now you might be ready. Some things to get done before the match. Do you have a CMP Competitor number ? if not go to www.ODCMP.com and request one, or look yours up if you don't know it. Go over your equipment, is it all there, you sling , your glove ? Is your rifle trigger pull OK , if not you get three chances to lift a NRA Regulated 3 Pound weight to make the grade. Ammo , have you already fired some of the ammo you will be using at the match ?? Car pool , see if other shooters who have to ride distances want to share a ride and split gas to save money ? Last thing try and have a good time but prepare mentally for this and any other match, picture yourself shooting properly and scoring high....you would be surprised how much this helps. Thanks Dwight

I am as ready as I can be, I am glad of the scheduling so we get a "practice" match this weekend and shoot for all the marbles next weekend . It would be a perfect time for new shooters that have never shot this match to come out and give it a try or just spectate. I came and watched every match once before shooting them, to learn the commands and routine of the matches and to get to know the members so it would be less intimidating. The CMP was the target I shot the first stage of for 10+ years in major competition, except indoors 99.9% of the time and prone only. Trust me when I say as big as the 10 ring is on this target it is just as hard as shooting USBR with iron sights in a hurricane. Work on your sitting/kneeling is all I can recommend, especially under the clock on rapid fire it can and will kill a perfect match instantly. I Hope to see allot more than we had last year, either way it will be a fun day. "T"

I know Dwight will be busy hanging signs and getting all of the supplies to the range between 6:00 and 7:00 on Saturday. So, I will volunteer to oversee registration. Using the Rifle Range pavilion seemed to work well last year. Let's do it again.
The first station will be for paper work, paying entry fees, and completeing waivers (hold harmless agreements). I will be handy with notary stamp if need be.
The second station will be for weighing guns and approving trigger pulls. We will also tape variable scopes at six power.
The third station will be for handing out the complimentary bottle of water and two boxes of Federal Champion ammo.
Finally, the shooters will be sent over to the Rimfire and Pistol Range area for assignment to a string.
Hopefully, we can be shooting by 7:30 AM.
Dwight, I still have that scoring program in Karen's old laptop. Do you think it would be beneficial or just slow us down? If the girls were already in from school, I could simply assign them to score input and they would not have the distractions that all of us dealt with when we used it. However, at this point, it looks like they are not even leaving Savannah, GA until Saturday morning. The pro of using the program would be that someone could load it on a stick or disc at the end and simply post the spreadsheet on RFS and NASACLUB.COM.
