Seven shooters braved declining temperatures and increasing wind to shoot at little steel chickens this morning. We had fun. A couple of folks managed to shoot the USBR as well. Our lone lady shooter, Chelsea, did well at her first Raptor Match - shooting Dwight's fine old Remington 513S nonetheless.
The shooter's score is the number of chickens left standing. Check the sticky at the top of this forum for the rules if you are not familiar with this match. I left the tie breaker scores off today because there were none (first time ever for that).
String 1, String 2, String 3, Total, Shooter, Rifle, Scope, Ammo, Bi-pod or Bag

Expert Class (4 - 6)
2, 0, 2, 4, Peary Willard, TC Classic, Tasco 3-12, Federal 510, Bi-Pod
Master Class (1 - 3)

0, 2, 0, 2, Paul Enlow, CZ 452 American Tribal, Mueller 4.15-14, CCI MMHP, Bi-Pod
Grand Master Class
0, 0, 0, 0, Danny Creasy, Anschutz 1710, Weaver V-16, SK Pistol Match, Bag
Scores were sprinkled throughout the classes. I think it just emphasizes how this match is about a shooter and his equipment vs the elements. Each, doing his or her best at that moment. Field conditions - what I was gunning for when I started the match back in 07.
This was the Anshcutz's first try at the Raptor Match. That attractive schnabel forend prevented me from using my bi-pod. So, I put together the old throw down bag that I used in the very first raptor match consisting of a dillon ammo bag with two 5 pound ankle weights rolled up inside and a Caldwell rabbit ear rear bag strapped on top to hold the forend. It worked quite well. The Weaver V-16 and the 13 oz trigger (via JNP Gunsprings replacement spring) were great as well.
Hope to see you all for the next Raptor Match on Saturday, January 30th. I bet Tony, Jim, and James will be back n attendance to give us a run for our money.
