Someone has been firing a 223 on the pistol side and also there are ricochet marks at 30-35 yds. Come on guys we dont need to speed up the process of losing the range.

GOOD CALL DANNY , It should be easy to find out who it is if you can see 35 yd. deflections immagine what you didn't see , some one will find them "assuming room temp." from a stray round to the head and pinky finger..... lmao! no serriously no a .223 will not shoot thru a 1" steel plate( i noticed .22 size copper jackets on the ground @ the swinger sun. afternoon while picking up lead i got 6-7 pounds in 5 min. ), phone pole ,or a steel barrier post , but it will go thru you .. i don't care to be on or near the range with them there...so please! knock it off NUMBNUTTS! whoever you are your not in a gravel pit it's a 50yd. "PISTOL" range . "T"

Yeah I've caught people shooting hi-power rifles a couple times over there. My favorite was the florence PD "howdy-doody guy" (who shall remain nameless other than that) walking between 3 different pistol shooters with his carbon-15 pistol (.223 so it's still high powerered rifle and not legal on the pistol range) looks for effect like "hey are you guys watching my cool mall ninja toy" and proceeds to empty the loud arse thing (inbetween multiple jams) at the 7 yard line while standing about 4-8 feet from handgun shooters on each side and 7 yards from the targets. Lets see....2700 FPS (I'm guessing in a SB) at less than 10 yards from a packed earth berm...yeah...sure that is safe.
I haven't seen him over there since that day. It wasn't just rude or unsafe...it was stupid rude and unsafe. Frankly -I wouldn't share a range with that guy after that. The other guy was an older member I'm not aquainted with with a rem700 police rifle....he claimed he wasn't really shooting it over there (empty brass on the bench next to the rifle) but simply packed up and left when called on it and after having the rules and the embankment situation explained to him. My impression is he probably could have cared less what the rules are on the matter.
Overall I've actually seen a marked decrease in that kind of thing as far as .223 and 7.62x39 brass over there.
I think overall we have done a good job of controlling the membership and weeding out those that don't want to follow basic safety rules. You are always going to have someone that can't abide by the rules...I think we have some good club officers that seem to do a good job of weeding them out. It's up to ALL of us to make sure they are enforced when they aren't there. Unsafe behavior is NEVER acceptable. If you are not comfortable with something someone is doing it's perfectly acceptable to state your case to them. I think most people want to be safe and courteous range users and some just need some help/reminding from time to time. In the end it's up to all of us to help maintain a clean safe proffessional shooting environment.
