I went to the Russellville True Value today to get some ammo , Mitchel has started stocking the full line of AGUILA ammo (SK may be coming soon).I picked up a couple of 500 round bricks of GOLDEN EAGLE comparable to the price on the WWW (about $0.07 per round) by the time you pay shipping and HAZ. MAT. fees, still not cheep but it is convenient. Some of our gun dealers in the club need to start stocking the good stuff that would be even better with the gas prices. Just a heads up , more and more dealers are stocking good ammo. hopefully more can keep it in stock.... "T"
amended 4/2/08 this ammo is awful in my new rifle ,after i tried everything from aguila to fiochi ,wolf, win. , Remington, cci , about everything i could find ,i found it likes federal gold medal that i Will be ordering from john boy n' larry @ sonny's gun and pawn. i tried it in 3 rifles but the aguila works best in my single six than anything.. i got 4-5 boxes left anyone want them ? I'll let em go cheep lol. sry. aguila, i won't be buying anymore.....

Tony, I had the same experience with the Aguilla. Tried four different loads, including Match Rifle and Match Pistol, and none of them were very good in my rifles. The Centurion High Velocity shot better than the "Match" loads for me. If Sonny's has trouble getting the Federal Gold Medal, The Gunrunner usually keeps it in stock. When I don't buy it all, that is. Also, the Federal Champion Standard Velocity 714 shoots about identical to the 711B Gold Medal for about a third less. Dick's is the only place I've been able to find it.

I got my first gold medal from yell I’m gona swap back n' fourth between yall n' sonny to spread the biz out to the folks I know personaly. I’m happy with the bang for my buck ratio on yall's price, but Larry said he would try to get it for me at a good price if he can't if you like it we can always order bulk..for thoes that don't know about the ammo Jay is speaking of it is federal 714 it's a dicks sporting goods only load it looks like the blue box champion (fed 510) at wal mart and everywhere else but I learned about this load from Peary sat. At the match its basically the same as gold medal but half the price it looks like champion blue box hi velocity except it says target it is standard velocity and the B.C. and specs are the same as gold medal.i bought all 4 bricks and 3 boxes dicks had $19.99 a brick. It works like gold medal in my rifle and I’m gona be shooting it for a while for now.... I’m gona keep a brick or two of gold medal in my bag just for insurance though. Lol see you sat. "T" go to this link if you wana see the federal balistic tables for thier .22 ammo but no714 www.federalcartridge.com/ballistics/Ammo_Search.aspx

Ok I got the skinny (from federal cart. co.) on the champion ammo @ dicks. 714 blue box target and 711B is the same, 714 is made and sold to the overseas market. The only domestic retailer at this point is dicks.510 from wall mart is the same as federal lightning and a promotional item only while they do the package change over. So the fact is that federal is selling 714 and 711b both in the U.S. but the 711b is twice the price and the 714 is only available at dicks. I went to the range today between 4:30 and 6:00 when we got a rain break and tried both of them side by side and no difference except I don't flinch at the price.... I saved the message on my phone from federal co. Garry 1 of the engineers called me back and gave me the facts, I will play it back for those that want the run down in the morning @ the 50/50. He added some info about some other loads as well, might be of interest for special applications and target shooting.”T”

Tony, That is interesting info on the 714. This has been discussed ad nauseum on RFC and several people posted that Federal told them that the ballistics were the same between 711B and 714, but 714 was loaded to a " more open accuracy spec". So far, I can't tell any difference between them either, except the price.
