This Match will be fired on Memorial Day at the Rimfire Range (May 30th), the next is scheduled for Monday, the 4th of July, and then on Labor Day, September 5, 2011.
We will use the USBR green monster targets.
All CMP Sporter rules for T-Class rifles will apply (3 lb trigger, 7.5 lb rifle, 6 power scope, etc).
Due to the 6 power scope limit, the targets will be engaged from 25 yards instead of the normal 50 yards.
Only two piece front and rear rests are allowed and get this: An adjustable front rest can be used but it can only be adjusted during your set up time before shooting starts. Once again, after the "start" command is given, the CMP Sporter Benchrest competitor cannot adjust his or her front rest. POA changes will have to be made by manipulating the rifle and the rear bag. Thus, a shooter with a simple rest or sand bags can be competitive. Along these lines, no extra wind flags, wind meters, rubber barrel do hickeys, or spirit levels will be allowed. Also, CMP Sporter rules prohibit fluted barrels and thumbhole stocks.
Each shooter will have a five minute set up period.
Just as in a USBR match, the shooter will have 20 minutes to fire unlimited sighters at the top three sighter bulls and 25 shots for score on the 25 scored bulls of the green monster target.
A spotting scope will be helpful but is not required.
Following the T Class competition, O Class and A Class rifles will be fired at USBR targets located at 50 feet. CMP Sporter rules will be applied to these two classes except that we will waive the 3 lb trigger rule. I would hate to see Ole Johnny knock the dust off of grand paw's tack driving Remington 510 single shot and bring it eagerly to Sheffield only to have that sweet trigger fail to lift a three pound weight. Apertures will shoot against apertures and open against open. A spotting scope is just about a necessity for these two non-optical events - I will have two on hand as loaners and I'm sure others will pitch in. Heck, a set of good binoculars would work.
