Dixie Classic Sanctioned CMP Rimfire Sporter
North Alabama Shooting Association
Saturday May 28 , 2011
The morning was a perfect spring shooting day with lots of sun and cool temperatures, around 65 degrees at match start time. There was so much sun the contrast was hard on one's eyes....in my case my eye LOL
We had a small turnout, partly I suppose due to it being memorial day weekend and people trying to recover from our last bout of severe weather and doing yard clearing. I would like to congratulate John Butler on shooting Bronze today, John has been shooting CMP Sporter with us for years and has struggled to within a handful of points to medal in the past but never quite got there before. Today the stars aligned for john and he received his first (not his last) medal in the Telescopic Sight division with his Ruger10-22. Over all scores were very respectable today with our old friend Don Moore (Magical) shooting double gold in both Open and Telescopic divisions. Don it was so good to see you and shoot with you again and we hope to see more of you in the future. Scores as follows;

I would like to say a word about Danny today, he had the misfortune of shooting on someone else's target (something we all have or will do at some time) and it cost him 30 points and a gold medal, however there is a silver lining to this cloud. Dan has had to have both knees replaced in the last few years and I hope I am not giving away too much personal information here but..Dan was worried about being able to shoot the scores he did from the different positions of this discipline before his surgeries. Well today proved he can still get into position and shoot top scores...we have to just get him on his target all the time...LOL. Now for anyone who thinks I am being hard on Danny just come to a few of our matches and you will see this is just great comradery among competitors.
We hope to see lots of our friends at Camp Perry in July
Sincerely
Dwight
