Guys we are are going to have a busy morning. I want everyone to have fun. But, we will need to rock and roll to get all this shooting done.
We need to at least be setting up at 8:00 AM. Dwight will be the match director for the CMP Sporter match and I will do the same for bench rest. We should be able to run at least two BR strings in the same time as the CMP Sporter Match. If their is enough demand and energy from late arrivals, BR shooters, etc, then I will lead a second CMP firing line through the six 3-P stages while Dwight oversees the last of the BR shooters.
He will start the CMP shooters on the pistol range and I will run the first four BR shooters on the rimfire range. They are side by side. So, logistics are easy.
We have four benches and I will occupy one of those in the first string. Sporters and unlimited rifles can shoot at the same time for the BR match.
If you are a BR shooter, you really need to have a game plan. Our rules did state that you will have 30 minutes to take the line, set up, and shoot your target. However in the interest of courtesy and safety, I am changing this. Each string will have a five minute set up time in which, it is prohibited to load the rifles, and then 30 minutes to shoot the target. Of course, the USBR target has 25 scored bulls and the three at the top are for an unlimited number of sighters. I will call out the time passed at 10, 20, 25, and 29 minutes.
My Caldwell rest will be available after the first string and the club has two more decent rests available as well. A little old orange Lyman and a nicer Midway one. We have enough rear bunny ear bags to cover those loaners as well. You are welcomed and encouraged to bring your own rests. No return to battery, gun vise, etc will be allowed. I guess a "bull bag" will be okay (I see no advantage gained by its use). If the dyed in the wool tactical shooter or hunter wants to use a bipod to shoot the BR match (even prone if preferred), then he or she will be more than welome to "go for it". If you have a bench rest stool or chair that you prefer to use, please bring it along. We have an odd mix of seating and it is first come first serve. I will have three Caldwell wind flags out at 5, 25 and 45 yards. But, you can bring your own as well and put them up during your set up time or before the match begins if you prefer.
I will have the clubs big water cooler filled with store bought ice and water (Dixie cups provided as well).
Please try your best to:
1. Get here early.
2. Stay late.
3. Help out whenever and where ever you can.
4. Have a since of humor.
5. And last but not least, be safe.
Thanks,
